We keep our box of Middara on top of our shelf, and every time we grab the game, we have to lift it over our heads. Every time, we’re reminded that this is a heavy game, and we’re glad that we both have quite some upper body strength thanks to bouldering. 😉 It’s the curse of the big boxes, they won’t possibly fit in shelves like the Kallax, they are in the way if it’s on the floor, and so there you have it: high up is the only option.

It’s been a bit of a chaotic week, but we ended up playing more games than we initially thought! Our first game night, we all just came back from a vacation, so we mostly shared stories and pictures of things we had done and seen. Since the original purpose of the night was to play a board game, we did end up playing a game of Can’t Stop! This was the first game that one of the players just didn’t manage to get ‘on’ the board for most of the game. If he’d been pushing his luck, that would have made sense, but this was just bad luck, and that also made it extremely funny.

On Friday, Heinze finally played Blitz Bowl with a friend! He got this copy at SPIEL last year but hadn’t gotten it to the table yet. They’ve been playing Kill Team these past months, and sometimes it’s good to change things up a little. 😉 The game was just as quick as it says on the box, and that was refreshing! They both really enjoyed it and I believe Heinze wanted to keep an eye out if he could get his hands on some other teams for some variation…

In the evening, we continued our quest to figure out what City of Six Moons is about and how to play it, and I must say… I think we nearly got it! We’ve got the iconography down, and at the end of the night, we were reminded of something we had forgotten about, which would make a lot of sense. We’ve tried taking clear notes for our future selves! I have good hopes we’ll crack it next time, and that we’ll be able to play a game? I’ll keep you posted (no spoilers, of course).

On Sunday, it was my birthday. We had family coming over, so most of our time was spent in preparation and the actual party itself! Our nephews (12 & 14) wanted to play a game, and they had their minds set on Sniper Elite. They, Heinze, and their dad gave it a go. They had a bit of a rocky start with the rules explanation, but after playing the game for one or two rounds, they got the gist of it and ended up playing two games. It’s no surprise that they want to play the game again, and a date is already set. 😉 We also played Caution Signs, and that was (as always) a great success.

This coming week, we’ll have to lift Middara off the shelves again, and other than that – we’ll have to see what hits the table.

What’s currently the biggest game box in your collection?

Hmm. I’m not entirely sure because of the different shapes to them, but the deluxe edition of Mosaic or the Everything Edition of Everdell are probably the top 2? Age of Darkness is close. If you use weight as the tie-breaker, then it’s Everdell.
